P2P winter wānanga series: Preserved kai

P2P whānau have been busy over the winter period. Paula Hohua has been sharing knowledge on perserving kai. The last wānanga was held on Matai Aranui marae. Efforts here were supported by Paul Voigt, Isaac Caroo, Maria Barnes and Aunty Judy. This series has been made possible with funding by Kai Ora Fund.


P2P returns to Whangarei Growers Market

Growers attended another market in Whangarei. Paula, Grant's daughter Mihi, Tene, Mitai and Paul Voigt turned up early to the Whangarei Growers Market - with a range of greens, kamokamo and preserves.

P2P momentum continues with our latest grower hui held amongst Ngāti Manu, on Karetū marae. P2P members came together to discuss the growth of our social enterprise, seed saving and exchanging, community events and more,

P2P growers hui: Matai Aranui Marae, Whirinaki

August 13, 2021

Our P2P Growers met in August, hosted Matai Aranui Marae haukāinga in Whirinaki. The hui emphasised a desire for more cross community interaction, and a need to focus on good kai for the local community in the first instance.  P2P are keen to explore outreach at festivals, markets and events to extend the supply chain of nutritious kai. Growers were keen to attend more farmer’s markets. They also wanted to be involved in on-line sales, particularly gift baskets.

Te Riingi Marae, Mitai Matene and whanau hosted our latest P2P hui. This hui covered grower updates, our enterprise structure, our current and next season crops, labour, market engagement and funding opportunities.


Pā to Plate goes to market in Whangarei

May 10, 2021

May 2021 marked Pā to Plate's first participation at the local Whangarei market. Food from Tautoro, Karetu, Whirinaki and Oromahoe was sold at our very own stall. Kai on offer included preserves, kumara, kamokamo, pumpkin, along with a suite of greens.
