Waimā is locatedon State Highway 12 west of Kaikohe. It has four marae Tuhirangi, Otātara, Matetera and Raukura. The latter two currently without wharenui and wharekai complexes. The marae connect to the maunga Whakatere, the moana Hokianga-o-Kupe and the iwi Te Māhurehure of Ngāpuhi.
